Holcim is a global leader in innovative and sustainable building solutions with net sales of CHF 27.0 billion in 2023. Our 63,448 employees are driven by our purpose to build progress for people and the planet across our regions to improve living standards for all. We partner with our customers to offer the broadest range of advanced solutions, from sustainable building materials ECOPact and ECOPlanet, to our circular technology ECOCycle®, all the way to Elevate’s advanced roofing and insulation systems.

As a world leader in recycling, we apply the principles of “reduce, recycle and regenerate” across our business. Circularity is at the core of everything we do and is a lever for our net-zero journey. Driving circularity is all the more important for the construction industry. The world is set to build the equivalent of New York City every month for the next 40 years, driven by rising population and urbanization. Over 40 billion tons of virgin materials are extracted every year to build our homes, schools, hospitals, roads and other vital infrastructure. Making construction more circular is essential to stay within our planet’s boundaries while we improve living standards for all. By driving circular construction, we unlock economic growth in a way that is climate-friendly, nature-positive and socially-inclusive.

One of our initiatives to lead the shift to circular living and building is the Circular Explorer, a 100% solar-powered recycling catamaran, designed to recover marine plastic waste in the world’s oceans and rivers. It is currently operating in Manila Bay in the Philippines. To accelerate its impact, the Circular Explorer is building awareness through educational activities to empower next-generation changemakers in the local communities and driving a science program in collaboration with leading marine institutes to better understand the health of our ocean and find solutions to protect and restore this ecosystem.
